Koandah (rhymes with “Amanda”) started out as a farm in New Jersey dating back to the original settlement of the United States. This farm, at various times, was known internationally for its bees, flowers, ducks, horses, medicinal remedies, and trees. Eventually, the New Jersey farm was sold, but the name was later adopted by descendants for a farm in Howard County, Maryland. This farm, too, was recently sold. But now the name has found life again by descendants of the original Koandah Farm as an engineering services company based in Alexandria, VA.
